I've been making some maps lately, and I've found that it's actually a really fun thing to do :D. This particular map was made for The Draykon series, written by Charlotte E. English.

If you are interested in her books, you can find everything about them on her webpage: [link] .
It has info on all the books from the series and a sample of the first book. I can highly recommend checking them out :D.

Yes.....
One of the other maps I've been working on is a map for Spindrift.

Book one, Draykon. Book two, Lokant. Book 3, Orlind

Wouldn't it be better to call them nightlands? :P

The dark lands have a day and night cycle (it's just always dark), and darklands + daylands has a nicer ring to it. They both have day/night cycles though, so the first argument doesn't quite cut it. I'm not the writer though, if you really want to know you should send Charlotte a tweet about it ;).

I don't tweet! XD Nor Facebook! :P But is there a link to her dA? :) Aww, but I didn't knew! Having known that, I wouldn't have argued! ;) And yeah. I understand the DD thing! :P

She's not a dA member. She has a webstite though. There's a collection of short stories which you can download for free from her website (it's called Leximandra Reports). One of the stories features the day cloak that gives the darklands it's name :D. There's also a chapter of the first book on her website [link]

Thanks. :P But I am more interested in the map than the story... :$

Beautiful work. Looks like an excellent cross between old school watercolor and modern graphics.

What an interesting way to split the lands, into dark and day. Does the border between them line up along her world's terminator or something? I can't imagine how else to justify the 'light and dark' thing; I've never heard of the books before.

No, in fact there's a magical cloak cast over the darklands at day time, to keep it dark (and I think there's a similar (yet opposed) system for the daylands although I'm not 100% sure of that part. Only Nimdre has a normal day-night cycle. The Draykon series are a very nice read and I highly recommend it :D
