Book cover - Tempel van de Spiegels, part 3 by ElsaKroese Book cover - Tempel van de Spiegels, part 3 by ElsaKroese
This is the third and final wrap-around cover I did for the series "Tempel van de Spiegels" by the Dutch author Mirjam van Gielen. I finished it late 2013 I think, apart from maybe a few minor tweaks, but with everything going on in the past months I entirely forgot to post it here. Now that I look at it after a bunch of months, there's things I like and don't like about this cover. I think it works better on the book as it does as a stand alone (which is a good thing I guess, because it's intended to be a book :D)

Here's part 1 and 2 of the series. I've to say that the first one remains my favorite.

For my Dutch followers, I can recommend the series, especially to young girls. The target audience is 10 years and up, but I enjoyed reading it a lot and my nieces absolutely devoured the series :Dwww.kluitman.nl/shop/titels/te…

Nee, de boeken zijn van de Nederlandse schrijfster Mirjam van Gielen, de link naar de boeken staat in de omschrijving van de illustratie hier boven.

Well done. Book cover constraints can be a royal pain.

I think the scenery is gorgeous. The general poses of the people come across as very natural and I like the flutter of their clothes. However, they don't quite match the level of detail in the rest of the image, they feel a bit like an afterthought. Or maybe everything is so grandiose around them that they just seem diminished. I think having the picture wrapped around a book will help like you said.

And it's really two linked paintings, each intended to be viewed on its own, leaving space for book titles and such.
(You do nice work.)
